Englehart, Davila dominate final standings at Finger Lakes
Trainer Chris Englehart and jockey John Davila Jr. continued their dominance as Finger Lakes wrapped up its 49th season of live racing on Saturday.
Englehart, 55, a native of Canandaigua, N.Y., saddled 131 winners this season to clinch his eighth consecutive leading trainer title. He did not come close, however, to his track-record 158 wins set in 2009.
Charlton Baker finished a distant second with 82 victories, five in front of third-place M. Anthony Ferraro..
Davila rode 157 winners to finish atop the track’s jockey standings for the ninth straight season and 11th time overall. Pedro Rodriguez was second with 115 winners and Dennis Carr wound up third with 94.
Among the owners, Ferraro edged out My Purple Haze Stable for top honors, 55-53.
