England: Ibn Khaldun scores

Ibn Khaldun emphatically landed the final Group 1 of the British season on Saturday at Doncaster, taking the Racing Post Trophy by three lengths as the 11-4 favorite.

River Proud set a steady pace at the head of the 12-runner field, with City Leader in close attendance. Ibn Khaldun settled in midfield and was sixth at the halfway point of the straight mile, well within striking distance. The pace quickened two furlongs out as City Leader and Irish challenger Curtain Call disputed the lead, while Ibn Khaldun was already quickening up to challenge.

Ibn Khaldun soon swept to the lead under Kerrin McEvoy, and from then the result was not in doubt as the Godolphin-owned colt quickened away. City Leader held second just ahead of outsider Feared in Flight, with Art Master fourth. The final time was 1:37.62.
