ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Trainer Mark Casse swept the top three positions in Saturday’s Grade 3, $179,100 Seaway Stakes at Woodbine when Elysian Field prevailed over Ticker Tape Home and the favored Stormcast. Casse’s other entrant, Olivia Rose, set a quick pace in the seven-furlong sprint while being tracked by Stormcast. Last year’s Seaway winner, Ticker Tape Home, raced in third through the turn while Elysian Field commenced a wide rally under last Saturday’s King’s Plate-winning rider Pietro Moran. Elysian Field ($9) outran Ticker Tape Home in the final furlong to prevail by a length, in a time of 1:21.87. Stormcast weakened to finish another three-quarters of a length back in third, just ahead of A Little Frisky, who had rallied along the rail. Blind Spot was declared a non-starter due to an unfair start. “Obviously, there was a lot of speed in the race,” Moran said. “I was just trying to get her out into a good spot where she was comfortable, and she did just that. When I called upon her, she fired.” :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now.
