Elusive Gift much the best in Punch Line

Elusive Gift justified his role as the odds-on favorite by cruising to a 4 1/4-length victory in Saturday's $50,000 Punch Line Stakes for Virginia-breds at Colonial Downs.

A 5-year-old gelding based at Delaware Park with trainer Tony Dutrow, Elusive Gift ($2.60) is now 2 for 2 in turf sprint stakes at Colonial's meet. He provided jockey Horatio Karamanos with his fourth winner of the card.

The 124-pound high weight in a field of six older turf sprinters, Elusive Gift completed five furlongs in 56.74 seconds over a course labeled soft. The winning time was close to the track record of 56.02 held by Smart Sunny.

A Reel Buster, who won the 2008 Punch Line, rallied to get second for the second straight year, finishing 3 1/4 lengths in front of third-place That'sthequestion.
