Ellis moves Friday card to Monday due to heat wave
Ellis Park in Henderson, Ky., has moved the entirety of its Friday card to Monday due to the heat wave throttling the Midwest, the track announced Tuesday, a decision that also will shift all of its meet-ending mandatory payouts to the new card.
The Friday card, which was already drawn, includes nine races. First post will be 11:45 a.m. Central on Monday.
The final three days of the Ellis Park meet included the Friday card, followed by the Saturday and Sunday cards. With the Friday card now moved to Monday, all mandatory payouts will occur on the Monday card. The Jackpot Pick 6 at Ellis has a $91,381 carryover going into Saturday’s card.
Forecasts for the Western Kentucky area call for heat index ratings in the range of 105-115 degrees on Friday. The heat is anticipated to abate somewhat after Friday, and the Saturday and Sunday cards, which also have already been drawn, are scheduled to go forward as planned.
