Elliott will ride for Casse at Del Mar

DEL MAR, Calif. -- Jockey Stewart Elliott, best known for winning the 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes on Smarty Jones,
will ride at Del Mar this summer, with his clients including trainer Mark Casse.
.Elliott was flying to California on Sunday and is scheduled to work horses on Monday.
Del Mar has a Polytrack surface, similar to what was in place this spring at Keeneland, where Elliott had great success, finishing second to Julien Leparoux while winning with 21 percent of his mounts.
Del Mar will be removing its Polytrack surface and going back to dirt after its first fall meeting this November. Keeneland is currently replacing its Polytrack surface with dirt.
Casse has sent 36 horses to Del Mar for the summer, including Alcibiades winner My Conquestadory, who is scheduled to run in the Grade 2, $200,000 San Clemente Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the turf on Saturday. The Casse barn here is overseen by assistant Randi Melton.
