Elizabeth Samuel dies

Elizabeth Liza" Samuel, wife of the late Ernie Samuel and a principal in the leading Canadian Thoroughbred outfit Sam-Son Farm, died at home on Sunday following a long battle with cancer and emphysema, the Woodbine Entertainment Group announced Monday.

Visitation was to take place from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Glen Oaks Memorial Chapel, 3164 9th Line, Oakville. There will be a private family funeral service.

Samuels daughter, Tammy-Samuel Balaz, had succeeded her father as president and general manager of Sam-Son but died early this January at age 47 following a long battle with breast cancer.
