Electrocutionist in tough spot

A British-bred, Italian-trained 3-year-old named Electrocutionist puts his 3-for-3 record on the line against seasoned veterans from throughout Europe in Sunday's Group 1, $275,000 Gran Premio del Jockey Club and Coppa d'Oro at San Siro in Milan at 1 1/2 miles.

Electrocutionist has won a listed race at 1 1/4 miles and a restricted allowance going 1 3/8 miles in his last two starts, both at San Siro. He faces a tough task against the likes of Fair Mix, a Group 1 winner last year who is coming off a victory in the Group 3 La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte at 1 1/4 miles, and Shirocco, the German Derby winner who was scratched from the Arc because of the firm ground.

The Italian-bred filly Sweet Stream would be no surprise. She won the Group 1 Prix Vermeille and is in the best form of her career.
