El Dinero ($80) cashes in with Young Futurity win

The 39-1 longshot El Dinero got the money Saturday night when he won his maiden in the $70,000 colts and geldings division of the D.S. “Shine” Young Futurity at Evangeline Downs.
It was 2 1/2 lengths back in second to Deal With It Daddy, who finished a neck in front of third-place finisher Good and Stout.
El Dinero paid $80.80 after covering 5 1/2 furlongs for Louisiana-breds in 1:06.54. The track was fast. Juan Vargas was aboard for trainer Patrick Devereux Jr.
El Dinero came into the race off a third-place finish in a maiden special weight at Evangeline. He races for Tav Enterprises.
El Dinero and Deal With It Daddy are both by the stallion El Deal. The winner's share of the purse was $42,000.
Earlier on the card, Mangum ($10) became a stakes winner when he edged the multiple stakes-winning filly Free Like a Girl by a head in the $100,000 Louisiana Stallion Stakes. It was another eight lengths back in third to Behemah Star.
Vicente Del-Cid rode the winner for Set-Hut and trainer Jeff Delhomme. Mangum toted 111 pounds and Free Like a Girl carried 122, according to the chart of the race. The winner covered the mile in 1:39.44.
Mangum is by Mo Tom and out of the stakes-winning mare Bovell Road. He has now won 3 of 8 starts for earnings of $159,960.
