Eight work in 9.8 at Ocala show

Eight juveniles topped the eighth-mile work tab Thursday at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's first under-tack session for its upcoming March select 2-year-old sale.

The auction will take place at the company's facility in Ocala, Fla., on March 17 and 18.

The fastest eighth-mile workers covered the distance in 9.80 seconds. They were Hip No. 20, an El Corredor-Wish It Were colt; Hip No. 47, a Stormy Atlantic-Beauty Bug filly; Hip No. 100, a Wildcat Heir-Choobloo colt; Hip No. 103, a Mr. Greeley-Clay's Rocket filly; Hip No. 124, a Johannesburg-Danceoftheflags filly; Hip No. 172, a Wildcat Heir-Flo's Z Fury filly; Hip No. 174, a Macho Uno-Forbidden Kiss filly; and Hip No. 259, a Forest Danger-Lady H colt.

Four 2-year-olds breezed the fastest quarter-mile time of 20.40 seconds. They were Hip No. 78, a Consolidator-Capacity filly; Hip No. 98, a Yonaguska-Chimera colt; Hip No. 118, a Tale of the Cat-Crow Jane colt; and Hip No. 184, a D'wildcat-Gloomy Knot colt.

The fastest three-eighths-mile work, in 33.40 seconds, was by Hip No. 146, a Milwaukee Brew-Dream Affair colt.

Thursday's under-tack show covered only Hip Nos. 1-260. A second session at 9 a.m. Friday was to feature Hip Nos. 261-523.
