Eh Cumpari will get shot in Kentucky Derby prep

Eh Cumpari, the last-to-first winner of the Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes here last Saturday on turf, will be given an opportunity on the Kentucky Derby trail, said trainer Michael Dilger.

Dilger, a former assistant to Pletcher, said one of the final preps for the Derby will be the next start for Eh Cumpari, owned by the Anstu Stables of Stuart Sobotnik. It could be the Wood Memorial or Blue Grass Stakes on April 4 or the Arkansas Derby a week later.
Eh Cumpari is by Elusive Quality, the sire of 2004 Derby winner Smarty Jones. The colt has raced four times, starting his career with two starts on dirt in November at Aqueduct: a one-mile maiden win at 45-1 and an 18-length defeat in the Grade 2 Remsen.
