Edge to Edge was a memorable winner opening weekend at Oaklawn Park and he’s back looking for more Sunday.

Edge to Edge will make his second start at the meet in the featured eighth race, a two-other-than allowance for 4-year-olds and up over six furlongs. It drew 11 and includes the comebacking Happymac, a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Shancelot; One Fast Cat, who owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Speed Figure; and Chipofftheoldblock, a stakes winner last year at Indiana Grand.

Edge to Edge will start from the rail one race after taking a first-level allowance Dec. 4 at Oaklawn. He was with the pace throughout and covered six furlongs in 1:09.42 in his first start since September. Edge to Edge won by five lengths and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 89.

“He ran a banger,” said Chris Hartman, who trains Edge to Edge for Peggy Thompson. “That was by far the best race of his life. He just keeps stepping up that horse – getting better and stronger.”

Francisco Arrieta was aboard and has the mount again Sunday.

Happymac won a maiden special weight last year at Oaklawn, and went on to capture a first-level allowance at Churchill Downs. He is making his first start since July. Joel Rosario has the mount from post 3 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

One Fast Cat won a first-level allowance Jan. 1 at Oaklawn. The Beyer of 91 that he earned for covering six furlongs in the slop in 1:10.60 is the best last-race number in Sunday’s field. Florent Geroux has the mount from post 7 for trainer Rick Hiles.

Chipofftheoldblock defeated fellow Indiana-breds in the $100,000 Brickyard Stakes in June, covering six furlongs in 1:09.51. Jon Court has the mount from post 5 for trainer Mike Lauer.

Blame J D, the winner of last year’s $150,000 Rainbow Stakes at Oaklawn, launches his 4-year-old season in the race Sunday.

Elsewhere on the card, Bicameral, the third-place finisher in last year’s Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante, cuts back to six furlongs from 1 1/16 miles in a maiden special weight for 3-year-old fillies. Her chief rivals are Hot and Sultry and Little Mombo.

Decade of Dreams, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Midnight Storm, launches her career in the sixth race Sunday. Her rivals include Xtreme Gem, who is out of the Grade 1-winning mare Gomo, and Firewolves, the probable favorite off a runner-up finish to Hypersport.
