Led by Party Politics and Aint He Tempting, the first two finishers of the Ed Burke Million Futurity in June, 92 2-year-olds are entered in 12 time trials for the Golden State Million Futurity at 400 yards at Los Alamitos on Sunday.

The runners with the 10 fastest times in the 400-yard trials, regardless of finishing positions, will advance to the $1,060,250 final on Oct. 30.

The entire program on Sunday consists of time trials. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.

Party Politics, trained by Juan Aleman for a syndicate of his family and friends, and Aint He Tempting, trained by Monty Arrossa for Matt and Bendi Dunn, have not raced since the $1 million Ed Burke at 350 yards when they were separated by a half-length.

Party Politics starts in Sunday’s fourth trial, while Aint He Tempting runs in the eighth.

The toughest trial may be the fifth race, which is led by Ajs Little Champ and Long Time Partner, who were eighth and 10th in the $200,000 All American Juvenile at 440 yards at Ruidoso Downs on Sept. 5. The All American Juvenile is the consolation to the $3 million All American Futurity.

The fifth race field also includes Jeriko, who won a division of the All American Futurity trials on Aug. 19. Jeriko had the sixth-fastest qualifying time that day, but only the five fastest times advanced to the final. Jeriko was eligible to start in the All American Juvenile, but was not entered.

The 10th trial will be the Los Alamitos debut of Cyber Attack, who has not raced since a second-place finish in the $1 million Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs on July 24.

Other prominent runner in Sunday’s trials include Muy Bien Corona, who was third in the Kindergarten Futurity in May and starts in the third race; and Attacker and Interesting Eagle, who were third and fourth in the Governor’s Cup Futurity on July 30 and run in the 11th race.

Interesting Eagle was fifth in a division of the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association Breeders’ Futurity trials on Sept. 11 after a poor start.

Attacker is trained by Valentin Zamudio, who is the lone trainer with runners entered in all 12 trials.
