Eamonn headlines allowance

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Sunday’s main event at Gulfstream Park is an $87,000 conditioned allowance carded at five furlongs on turf. It features a wide-open field of 10, plus two others hoping to draw in off the also-eligible list.

The field is led by multiple stakes winner Eamonn, who returns to allowance company for only the second time in his last 21 starts. He is looking to snap a five-race losing streak dating back to his nose victory over Reef Runner, now a Grade 2 winner, in the Silks Run Stakes here March 8. That also was the last time Eamonn, a son of Pioneerof the Nile, raced on the local turf, his preferred surface over which he’s registered six of his eight career wins.

Eamonn is one of two 8-year-olds in the field. The other is eight-time winner Niagara Skyline, although both are youngsters compared to Xy Speed, who is still going strong at 10. Xy Speed has won twice and placed three times in 2025, with both victories coming against similarly conditioned competition as he’ll encounter in his 2026 debut.

Other key contenders in the main event include the fleet Speed Figures, who projects to set the pace from the rail; Quereme Pass, who’s turning back in distance after defeating second-level allowance foes late last summer at Kentucky Downs; Grade 3 winner Spiced Up; Test Factor; and Twisted Filigree.
