E Dubai, Buffum to Northview Stallion Station in Maryland

DRF Breeding Staff|Nov 15, 2013

Northview Stallion Station in Chesapeake City, Md. will feature a pair of new additions on its stallion roster for the 2014 breeding season.

E Dubai will transfer from Northview’s Pennsylvania location to its Maryland farm for the upcoming season, standing for a fee of $5,000. He stood the previous season for $7,500.

The 15-year-old son of Mr. Prospector has sired eight crops of racing age, and his best runners are led by 2012 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Fort Larned. His other notable runners include Grade/Group 2 winner Skysurfers, Accredit, High Heels, Aggie Engineer, Buy the Barrel, and My Gi Gi, as well as Grade 3 winners Desert Code, Dubious Miss, and Mr. Fantasy.

E Dubai was a winner of five of 11 starts during his racing career for earnings of $920,800. Among his best efforts were wins in the Grade 2 Suburban Handicap and Dwyer, and second-place finishes in the Grade 1 Travers Stakes and Super Derby. Out of the stakes-winning Lord at War mare Words of War, he is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner No Matter What.

Also joining the roster will be Grade 3 winner Buffum, who has been retired from racing and will stand his inaugural season for an advertised fee of $3,500.

The 5-year-old Bernardini horse finishes his racing career with four wins in 11 career starts for earnings of $261,550, highlighted by a win in the Grade 3 Bold Ruler Handicap. A $1.2 million purchase at the 2009 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga selected yearling sale, Buffum was campaigned by Sheikh Mohammed al-Maktoum’s Godolphin Racing, and was trained by Tom Albertrani.

“Buffum was pure class,” Albertrani said. “He had so much natural speed and is the fastest Bernardini I have ever trained.”

Bred in Pennsylvania by Brushwood Stable, Buffum is out of the multiple stakes-winning Storm Cat mare Storm Beauty, whose five winners from eight foals to race also include multiple stakes winner Stormy West, Grade 3-placed Renaissance Lady, and stakes-placed Value Stream. He is from the family of champions Gold Beauty, Dayjur, and Sky Beauty, as well as Grade/Group 1 winners Maplejinsky, Tale of Ekati, Pleasant Home, and Question, and multiple classic-placed Impeachment.

Buffum will be available for inspection at Northview Stallion Station beginning Nov. 18.
