New Jersey shipper D’wild Ride, who came across the Delaware River two months ago to win an allowance race with an inflated purse of $110,000, duplicated the feat Tuesday when she overtook pacesetter Noble Maz in the stretch to win the $75,000 Cornucopia Stakes for filly and mare sprinters at Parx Racing. In winning her first stakes since taking the $91,000 Regret at Monmouth Park in August 2009, the 5-year-old D’wild Ride, ridden by New York jockey Mike Luzzi, covered the six furlongs in 1:10 flat while finishing 2 1/2 lengths in front of Noble Maz, a 9-2 shot in a field of five. It was another 2 1/4 lengths back to Bounding Bi, a 17-1 outsider. Trained by Joe Orseno, D’wild Ride has now won 11 of 31 starts lifetime, including 3 of 5 at Parx. She is 3 for 10 this season. Defending champion Amazed by Grace, making her second start following a knee injury, never showed any run and finished last for the second time as the 2-1 second choice.
