Dweck, owner, dead at 81

Matt Hegarty|May 25, 2007

Raymond Dweck, a New Jersey-based horse owner, died on Thursday at the age of 81, according to friends. The cause of death was unknown, but Dweck had recently suffered a stroke.

Dweck, who owned horses since 1991, had his greatest successes in the early 2000s, racing several graded stakes winners, including Max's Pal, Unforgettable Max, Stormy Pick, and Richly Blended.

Dweck lived in Oakhurst, N.J., and raced many of his horses at nearby Monmouth Park.

"He really had a lot of fun at the races, and he was one of the good guys," said Baden P. "Buzz" Chace, a bloodstock agent who represented Dweck at sales.
