Duly Noted saves ground en route to first stakes win in Livermore Valley

A ground-saving trip gave Duly Noted her first stakes win, and preserved her unbeaten record through four starts, in Saturday’s $76,350 Livermore Valley Stakes for California-bred fillies and mares at Pleasanton, Calif.
Duly Noted, ridden by Luis Jiminez, closed from sixth on the backstretch to reach the front in the final sixteenth. Benefiting from an inside trip, Duly Noted edged 4-5 favorite Grand Slam Smile by 1 1/2 lengths. Grand Slam Smile raced wide throughout.
Chancery Way, who was part of an early speed duel with Smiling Molly, held third, beaten two lengths.

Duly Noted ran six furlongs in 1:10.24 and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 63.
Irish Wahine finished fourth, followed by Blue Wildcat, Smiling Molly, Rousing Jewel, and Smiling Lady.
Chancery Way and Smiling Molly fought through an early pace of 22.46 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 44.67 for a half-mile.
Duly Noted races for the partnership of Dunn Bar Ranch, Al Hodge, Anne MacLennan, and co-owner and trainer Tim McCanna.
By Grazen, Duly Noted won a maiden race at Golden Gate Fields in her debut last December, but did not race again until October when she won an allowance race at Fresno. In her final start before the Livermore Valley Stakes, Duly Noted won an allowance race at six furlongs at Pleasanton.
In each of her wins, Duly Noted has closed from well off the pace. She has earned $104,670 in her four starts.
