Due To Win Again takes Honeymoon

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Due To Win Again outfinished Golden Rhythm in the late stages to win the $50,000 Honeymoon Stakes by three-quarters of a length at Louisiana Downs on Saturday. It was another three lengths back in third to pacesetter Eagle Lake.

Due To Win Again($8.60) stalked Eagle Lake through an opening six furlongs in 1:12.74. The eventual winner took the lead in midstretch, then fought off a closing bid by Golden Rhythm. Due To Win Again covered the mile over firm turf in 1:36.50.

Jockey Ted Gondron was aboard Due To Win Again for trainer Eddie Ruiz. She earned $30,000 for the win, which improved her record to 6 wins from 23 starts for earnings of $141,265.

Due To Win Again's half-sister, Due To Win, finished fourth in the Honeymoon. Both horses race for Elvera Scarberry and are trained by Ruiz.
