The Dubai World Cup, the Sheema Classic, the Dubai Turf, and the Dubai Golden Shaheen, all Grade 1 races at Meydan Racecourse in the United Arab Emirates, have been added to the Breeders’ Cup Challenge series, the Breeders’ Cup and the Dubai Racing Club announced over the weekend. The World Cup is linked to the Breeders’ Cup Classic, the Sheema Classic to the BC Turf, the Dubai Turf to the BC Mile, and the Golden Shaheen to the BC Sprint. The winner in each of the Dubai races gains, as in all BC Challenge races, automatic fees-paid entry into the Breeders’ Cup as well as travel expenses – $20,000 for overseas-based BC Challenge winners, $10,000 for winners based in North America. The connections of horse not Breeders’ Cup-nominated who wins a Challenge Series race still must pay a supplemental nomination fee to make their horse BC eligible. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
