Dubai Sky re-routed to Spiral

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - The one-week postponement of last Saturday’s Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes due to heavy rain caused trainer Bill Mott to change his plans for Grade 3 winner Dubai Sky, who would have been the favorite had the race gone off as scheduled last weekend.
Dubai Sky was not entered in the Palm Beach when the race was redrawn for Saturday, and Mott said the son of Candy Ride is running in the $550,000 Spiral on the Polytrack at Turfway on March 21.
“I’m not thinking of it as a Derby prep, but the Candy Rides seem to excel on synthetic surfaces, and the purse is considerably larger than the Palm Beach,” Mott said. “Had they run the Palm Beach last week, we’d have had the opportunity to possibly run in both spots, but because of the postponement, I wouldn’t.”
