DRF's McGee honored with John Asher Derby Ambassador Award

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Marty McGee of Daily Racing Form on Tuesday evening was presented with the 2022 John Asher Derby Ambassador Award at the Knights of Columbus 60th annual Kentucky Derby Festival Charity Dinner at the Galt House in downtown Louisville.
The event is sponsored annually by Bishop Spalding Council of the Knights of Columbus to raise funds for charitable organizations in the Louisville area.
The award, formerly the Dean Eagle Memorial Award, was renamed beginning with the 2019 presentation to honor John Asher, the beloved former vice president of communications at Churchill Downs who died in August 2018. It is presented annually to a person or persons who have made major contributions to the sport of Thoroughbred racing.
McGee, 62, is based in his hometown of Louisville, Ky., and covers the Kentucky racing circuit and other major events. He joined Daily Racing Form in 1992 after 6 1/2 years with the Baltimore Sun.
