DRF's Hovdey among finalists for media Sovereign Award

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Daily Racing Form’s Jay Hovdey is among the 2014 media award finalists for Canada’s Sovereign Awards.

Hovdey’s story on trainer Mark Casse, published last summer in DRF, is one of three finalists in the writing category, along with articles by Dave Briggs and Kayla Urbasik.

The digital audio/visual and broadcast finalists are Horse Racing Alberta’s Canadian Derby telecast, Scott Jagow’s Woodbine Diaries on the Paulick Report, and Woodbine Entertainment Group’s coverage of the Queen’s Plate on The Sports Network.

The finalists in the photograph category are Michael Burns Jr., Santino Di Paola, and Cindy Pierson Dulay.

The 40th Sovereign Awards, presented by the Jockey Club of Canada, are on April 10 at Woodbine.
