DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Wednesday, October 27, 2021

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
2:04 KEE 3rd Trainer Steve Capps claimed HE'S PRETTY LUCKY (#2, 8-1) out of a close $10K loss on Oct. 1 and I feel pretty comfortable saying this $20K N2L claimer is not all that much tougher than his race for half the price. By the standards of this field he's been a consistent performer, and as for the stretch to 9f on dirt, sire Lookin at Lucky often imparts real stamina to his offspring, both on turf and dirt. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:08 KEE 5th First-time starter ROAD ABROAD (#11, 10-1) appeared to be working forwardly in late spring, then needed some time off, but has put together an appealing breeze pattern since returning to the tab in late August. Since that first gate drill 8.29 it's been nothing but 5f & 6f breezes and I have to assume the horse is plenty fit enough if he ran run. Trainer B Lynch not amazing with first-timers going long on grass but we'll live with that. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:44 KEE 8th Trainer S Margolis nearly never wins with first-time starters but over the last five years with second-timers in dirt-sprint maiden claimers -- horses like TRIPLE P (#7, 4-1) -- he is 14-4-1-1, and the win ROI coming back $3.75 is representative of the fact most of these horses have gone off odds between 4-1 & 10-1. Triple P, who shows a $20K purchase price, disputed a solid pace and just tired a bit late, still holding second in that $50K maiden-claimer. This move to a $150K tag seems both lateral in a class-sense and positive in that connections want to protect their horse from being claimed. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:35 RP 2nd RUMPUS (#5, 5-1) is a turf sprint specialist who was facing winners for the first time last out while also making her first start in three months. She would seem to have reason to move forward. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
9:31 RP 4th FOXY ACE (#8, 5-1) was second against similar last out and owns the field's best last-race Beyer Speed Figure. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
10:27 RP 6th FRED'STWIRLINCANDY (#10, 10-1) is proven at this mile and an eighth turf trip and is further appealing as one who has been facing steeper. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
