DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Wednesday, October 12, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:32 KEE 2nd GRANTASTIC (#5, 15-1) broke from the rail with ten $75,000 stacked up outside him in his career debut, his lone previous dirt-sprint start. Flopped second out on the HAW turf, now gets a restart at a more manageable class level with plenty of work over the KEE dirt. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race
3:08 KEE 5th CATNIP (#13, 6-1) had a troubled trip and showed plenty of life making his career debut last winter in a Fair Grounds turf route, and was a prompt winner of a long layoff comeback race in a CNL MSW. Was ambitiously placed in the Virginia Derby, where he actually didn't run poorly despite finishing sixth. That race totally fell apart, and Catnip was easily the best among those close to the pace. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race
4:44 KEE 8th Can't see how COLERIDGE (#7, 12-1) gets to the 12-1 morning-line odds with Irad Ortiz named to ride, and anyone who took the time to watch the replay of his maiden win at Gulfstream will find him hard not to like. High-level closing kick from a seemingly impossible spot and still was easily up, and I expect he is ready for a representative showing coming off the layoff. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race
9:59 RP 5th RIVER RULER (#6, 10-1) hooked a next-out winner last time when facing steeper and the start was this one's first since July. He would seem to have reason to move forward. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race
10:27 RP 6th DON'TASK DON'TTELL (#4, 5-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mary Rampellini). | Get PPs for this race
11:23 RP 8th OLIVER (#10, 6-1) is back at the one-turn trip of his last win on form. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race
