DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026
:quality(75))
Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
2:04 KEE 3rd LUCKY SHOT (#9, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Marcus Hersh). | Get Past Performances for this race
4:31 BEL 7th Giving one more chance to RABAJA (#8, 12-1), who I've been chasing a bit over the last year; this horse has the ability to win a race like this, but finding the right trip is often a struggle for him; hope his connections realize that he's best when used aggressively from the gate; actually appears to be back in pretty good form, but this jockey has shown little aggression in his last couple of starts, and he's been left with too much to do late; 9F suits him, and he'll be dangerous if he can get forward position heading into the clubhouse turn. - David Aragona | Get Past Performances for this race
5:05 BEL 8th TRES LECHES (#10, 6-1) certainly had a right to need that first start in 2 1/2 years when she returned to the races last month; actually showed some improvement off the bench, displaying improved tactical speed and making a brief move to the 1/4-pole before fading; should be fitter this time; drops in class and switches to a more aggressive jockey in a race that features a pretty murky pace scenario. - David Aragona | Get Past Performances for this race
4:12 KEE 7th I'd guess ADMIRAL HALL (#9, 8-1) fits this spot better than the speed figures alone suggest. His last four dirt starts came in one-turn races - five back he won a two-turn maiden over the KEE track. Body-type definitely looks more route than sprint. The Ellis 1 1/2-turn mile is not for every horse, and I didn't care for the ride he got in that race - used hard around the far turn, to the extent he'd nearly reached the leaders approaching the quarter pole, but he was very wide and unbalanced when a horse brushed his left side straightening for the wire. Better showing that it looks superficially, and trainer took him home after the 8/21 race to his KEE base prepaing for this start. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race
4:44 KEE 8th Liked TRAMUNTANA's (#11, 9-2) turf debut two back at IND well enough that I made her the day's best bet Sept. 20 at Churchill - with the idea that she'd make the lead, control the pace - even if solid - and stay on well. Nope. How'd that go for the jockey on 85-1 shot Differently who pushed and pushed through a TimeformUS red-coded (hot!) middle pace? Not so well! She wound up last of 10, while Tramuntana showed she does fit at this class level, holding a solid fourth. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race
7:30 RP 1st WALK THAT WALK (#6, 5-1) showed talent in her debut here Aug. 22 but didn't repeat that run here Sept. 12. In her defense, both came vs. tougher straight maidens so with two races under her belt she gets a critical drop. - Michael Hammersly | Get Past Performances for this race
7:58 RP 2nd GRACE GIVEN (#3, 7-2) is not only proven at this trip that proof came vs. more expensive. After fading going longer here Sept. 26 she tumbles in class. Those last two starts came off a bit of a layoff, too. - Michael Hammersly | Get Past Performances for this race
11:14 RP 9th MR. J (#7, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Michael Hammersly). | Get Past Performances for this race
