DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Wednesday, March 31, 2021

DRF Staff|Mar 30, 2021
Racing at Oaklawn Park in April 2020
Coady Photography Oaklawn Park set a new record handle Saturday with $41 million.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

1:38 TAM 3rd FIRST GOLD (#6, 6-1) is out of a dam who posted both of her wins sprinting on the dirt, and her best foal to date, It's a Sin, posted all of his five career wins on the main track but she produced a turf winner in Gold Piece and Robert Smith does well with horses stretching out from sprints to routes; Smith also excels with runners making their second career starts. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:33 OP 4th WISH FOR CANDY has a racing experience edge on these and has moved forward with each of her starts at the meet. She could be sitting on a peak effort in her third out since last April. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:38 OP 6th OUTLIER (#3, 9-2) might get an ideal stalking trip, as there appears to be a fair amount of speed in this spot. He's from a stakes-winning mare who ran out $150K. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:45 TAM 9th ALEX'S FIRST (#9, 8-1) was clearly overmatched in the Florida Oaks but this huge class drop makes her easy to like today, as she does fit based on her turf figures; her running style means she'll be looking to make the last run but there's plenty of pace in the field to set her up. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:40 OP 8th These go the marathon distance of a mile and nine-sixteenths in a fun feature race that could produce starters for the Trail's End on the closing day card May 1. STRONG TIDE (#3, 8-1) ran well over a mile and a half two starts back, when facing graded stakes rivals in the Connally Turf Cup at Sam Houston. He gets good pedigree support for the marathon trip from sire English Channel. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:10 OP 9th SPIN RATE (#7, 7-2) was second last out to a runner who was claimed in a 16-way shake. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
