DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Wednesday, March 23, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:14 TAM 1st BEAUTIFUL TIZ (#3, 4-1) might be the best closer in this opener, which features a short field but one that's not light on pace; thinking she can make the last run given an honest, contested pace up front, as she closed with some interest in her latest at this same level and she was overmatched against open claimers two back when against the race flow. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
1:05 GP 1st URMIZZENTHEPOINT (#3, 8-1) looks like controlling speed dropping, stretching out while switching to Tapeta for third start of form cycle. Might not look back. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
1:15 TAM 3rd BELLAVALENCIA (#1, 7-2) was against the race flow as a closer in speed-friendly races in her last couple but she still earned decent figures in defeat; tough to project the pace scenario in this route but given an honest tempo up front she should be positioned to make an impact late. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
2:13 TAM 5th STARRY HOPE (#6, 8-1) ships over from Gulfstream and makes her Tampa debut; she figures to find the locals more her speed, and if she runs to her best back figures she's plenty good enough to win this. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
2:38 GP 4th SNEAKY CHEEKY (#6, 6-1) making first start for barn owning high marks with new acquisitions. Those 53 Beyer in fall of 2-year-old campaign should have her right in this mix. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this races
3:18 TAM 7th DONTMESSWITHTESS (#9, 15-1) has not yet run in an abbreviated sprint but trainer Dennis Ward excels with runners under these conditions, and this filly has lots of upside off her last pair, as she was trying to close in a paceless race last time and pushing the pace two back in a race that set up well for the closers (hence the "S" and "C" symbols in pp lines); needs pace but given a clean trip and quick fractions she may well be good enough, likely at a price. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
4:41 TUP 3rd CANDY WOMPUS (#3, 4-1) often gets a lot of play and for good reason as current form is sharp. He adds distance today and that could actually help if distance tab of 15-3-3-5 is any indication (any show bettors out there?). When Diodoro gets a horse sharp they often hold that good form for multiple starts. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
4:42 GP 8th SINFULICIOUS (#10, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Welsch). | Get PPs for this race
5:19 TUP 5th KEENEYE GEORGE (#4, 10-1) is by a 8% debut turf sire. His dam went 15-4-2-0 and earned 60K on the grass (won turf debut). Both sibs are multiple winners on the turf. This gelding exits a key race where 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 62 and 56. We like that this horse has worked at least twice since his debut. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
6:46 TUP 8th ZERO DOWN (#6, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race
