With most other North American sports being shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, we hope the sport of horse racing can entertain you during these trying times. Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 12:30 p.m. Eastern Gulfstream Park 2nd race – Main-track-only entrant BLESSED JOURNEY gets nod, assuming a surface change. Comes off career-best effort last time, was not badly beaten for this tag over the main during heart of championship meet back in February. – Mike Welsch 1:15 p.m. Eastern Belmont Park 1st race – STAR OF THE WEST (#4, 6-1) returning from a 325-day break after being claimed out of his debut by Rudy Rodriguez; ran well in that seven-furlong race as he chased a fast pace early and appeared to be dropping out of contention coming to the stretch, only to re-rally late behind Wicked Trick, who would win each of his next five starts with ascending figures, topping out with a 101 Beyer in January; comes right back at the same level with blinkers on. – Mike Beer :: Get the DRF GamePlan Playbook each day with a DRF+ Pro subscription. He is easily forgiven for that last one, when he tried allowance company in his first start off the layoff, and he also had an excuse in his other turf route loss, when sent 1 1/4 miles at Colonial Downs. The maiden win was solid as he overcame the race flow to win from off the pace, and the resulting Beyer gives him credibility with these. – Kenny Peck 3:59 p.m. Eastern Belmont Park 6th race – HUNGRY KITTEN (#11, 12-1) is just 1 for 5 so far, but she has shown potential since her debut late in her 2-year-old season when racing greenly and finishing with interest too late. She finished fast to close down maidens on Derby Day last year at Churchill, then had no chance in the pace-dominated Regret before going to the sidelines. She must improve and needs a trip, but think she might like the big course here after racing on without much urgency off the layoff at Tampa. – Mike Beer :: Want to get your Past Performances for free? The absence of a clear-cut pace scenario in this finale is an advantage for this 5-year-old who has some early foot and draws inside. – Kenny Peck
