DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Wednesday, July 29, 2026
:quality(75))
Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
2:20 SAR 3rd IMAGINE JOHN (#8, 6-1) steadily improved through four starts on this track last summer, culminating with a determined maiden win with the addition of blinkers; has shown the expected improvement in two starts so far at three, as he dueled with class-dropping Madaket Road in his first start back, then faced a strong field for the level and finished in midpack last time; looks like a better fit here as he breaks from the outside post. - Mike Beer | Get Past Performances for this race
3:30 SAR 5th NOT TAPPING (#6, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get Past Performances for this race
4:40 SAR 7th UNREASONABLE (#8, 5-1) had an excuse when running poorly in her first Saratoga start last summer; pulled a better trip and won convincingly when given more distance to work with in her next start, then ran well again when shipped to Kentucky Downs before the layoff; dropped and turned back in distance last time, where she finished a very good second to a talented filly who was allowed to control the pace. - Mike Beer | Get Past Performances for this race
5:15 SAR 8th BOURBONCENTRIC (#9, 8-1) was the lone first-time starter in that field when sitting close to a strong pace after having to let a longshot clear to the lead, and then bumping in the stretch when trying to edge out for room; pulled a wide trip before finding a game late finish last time; has shown some flashes; enters right back at the same level while adding blinkers as he looks to put it all together. - Mike Beer | Get Past Performances for this race
6:29 LAD 4th KINSLEY GRACE (#4, 10-1) beat first time winners four back and that is never easy to do. Perhaps she didn't care for Evangeline three back or seven furlongs or a bit of both. Her most recent was a tad better and now she tries this distance for only the second time. She finished 2nd the first time. It would be no surprise if HH put this filly on the front end. -Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race
6:57 LAD 5th OUR LAST HALF (#2, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get Past Performances for this race
7:26 LAD 6th KINGSCLIFF (#3, 6-1) returns off a voided claim but that alone just doesn't faze us. This guy comes in fresh and that might sharpen his speed just a tad more. An early breather would be huge. This guy did run great when last seen returning off a freshening only two back. Wire please. - Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race
7:53 LAD 7th CAVA DE ORO (#8, 10-1) should find the front end today and laugh all the way to the bank. Stick 'em up? -Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race
