DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Wednesday, January 25, 2023

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:29 TAM 1st ENGLISH LAUGHTER (#3, 7-2) rallied to miss by just a half length when under these conditions last time out, a game effort considering the slow splits up front; can make the last run given faster early splits up front. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
12:39 GP 2nd A ton of pace in this one might be a plus for class dropping MISTER J T (#3, 4-1) who showed some ability to rally off pace this summer over Monmouth sod. Has hit board in half of eight previous starts on dirt. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
1:27 TAM 3rd GREYZER (#5, 6-1) may have just been overmatched in that last one, and he ran deceptively well two back when he made a premature bid before flattening out; prior Beyers put him in the middle of this, if he can run to them. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
2:27 TAM 5th SUMMER AT THE SPA (#4, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race
2:38 GP 6th Another race featuring a ton of speed which should set up late running THE BIG GREY (#2, 8-1) for potential winning effort dropping to this level and returning to his preferred surface on dirt. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
3:48 TUP 4th LITTLE LILY LU (#9, 8-1) was buried on the rail in her return try and was trying a difficult 6 1/2 furlongs so it is easy to discount that race. We like that connections want the same distance right back but this time this mare draws best. She has some upside and owns a recent work all at what should be a good price. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
3:58 TAM 8th ODDS ON (#4, 4-1) was off the board in each of his last two starts but he didn't get a whole lot of help either time, finishing behind two-speed exactas in both of those sprints; down in class for this and his latest was an especially good group of open claimers, with the winner posting an 80 Beyer where the par is 69. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
4:18 TUP 5th START A RUNNIN (#8, 5-1) is better on the grass which he returns to today. Form cycle hints at better and this guy is certainly classy enough. Race flow is average so this gelding might be tempted to try for the front end if no one else wants it. A stalking trip would work just as well. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
