DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Wednesday, December 14, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action.
12:10 GP 1st SMART SPENDING (#3, 8-1) a bit of a value play over logical favorite CLASSIC LADY to kick the week off returning to poreferred surface off steady diet of Tapeta races here this past summer. Loves the course and distance, re-unites with Paco who guided her to victory over similar on April 7. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
12:30 TAM 1st NO COMMISSION (#2, 15-1) makes his second start off the layoff and this might be trainer James Tsirigotis Jr.'s best angle, as the barn has two recent wins with such runners; no threat in his latest but he cuts back in distance and he is proven in abbreviated sprints, and he had an excuse there, as he was wide on a day when the inside was the best part of the track. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
1:06 GP 3rd OLD TOWN ROAD (#7, 9-2) back on what appears his best surface and the lone four time winner in the field. Appears to be dropping into winning spot while attracting stable's go to rider for the occasion. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
1:36 GP 4th FIVEFIVE SIX CHAMP (#7, 6-1) has been away a long time but working smartly for return. Perhaps just a question if he'll need one returning at seven-eighths. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
1:59 TAM 4th CHILD PROOF (#3, 15-1) has a couple of works that strongly suggest she has some ability, and she figures to offer some value in this field; dam won a pair of races, both of them dirt sprints. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
2:29 TUP 2nd DOZO (#7, 12-1) exits a key race where all five returned to hit the board. Two won with figs of 63 and 55. Another finished 2nd with a 55 Beyer and then two more grabbed the show dough with Beyers of 48 and 59. Works are sharp and longer. This mare has some tactical speed, likes a shortened sprint, and likes this dirt. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this races
2:35 GP 6th SHES A GIFT (#6, 9-2) drops to bottom for first time. Tossing last after unlucky start. Should handle the distance better than most in here. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
2:58 TUP 3rd MYREEBEN HARBOR (#8, 6-1) tried stakes foes in her debut so someone thought she had some talent. She broke 8th of 9 in said race but then ran evenly before tiring late. Didn't something go wrong in her second start? She broke on top and then slowly faded. Local works are sharp and this filly tries maiden claimers for the first time all while drawing outside. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
3:55 TAM 8th TRULY A DREAM (#6, 8-1) was no threat in her first start off the layoff but she was moving well enough through the back of the field, and she was flattered when the top two finishers returned to win their next starts; expecting her to be tighter for this second start off the layoff and she does figure to be a decent price. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
4:25 TAM 9th LULLABY LAND (#5, 6-1) rallied strongly despite being stuck down inside and then she galloped out very well in that last one, a very good effort under these same conditions; she's a stretch runner who needs pace but she can stay closer to the lead than she has been of late, as she showed more positional speed when over this strip last year. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
5:58 TUP 9th MOONLITE GRAHAM (#6, 5-1) is a horse for course that is bred to love the green. He goes third off the layoff, draws fine, has speed, and adds a half furlong. His Beyer top came at today's flat mile. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
9:03 RP 3rd SERENDIP RULER (#3, 12-1) catches a race light on pace and we think he can take advantage. This guy is a lightly raced 4YO who goes second off the layoff. What if a good track actually hurt last out? He never got a breather but didn't tire that badly either. An early breather would make a world of difference. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
9:31 RP 4th WATCH OUT NOW (#8, 8-1) draws nicely and figures a very good trip. Now throw in team Asmussen/Elliott and things look even better. This filly puts races together for the first time and has good early zip. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
