DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Wednesday, April 19, 2023
?q=100)
Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action.
12:20 TAM 1st That last running line for WHISKARITA (#1, 6-1) can obviously be ignored, and two back she ran a big race to get the place in a race that was light on early zip; shorter distance today but she should get an improved race flow, and that would move her way up. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
1:00 KEE 1st YOUALMOSTHADME (#9, 6-1) has worked a lot and worked very fast from the gate over this surface, attracting one of the leading jockeys. Trainer E Keneally has only run two early 2yo first-timers (before July) over the last five years, but one of them won and TOO FAST FOR YOU looks like he might be quick. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race
1:20 TAM 3rd SALIT (#6, 9-2) was off the board in each of her two starts against winners, including a try at this same level two back, but he showed deceptive late interest in the lane in both of those races, and she earned competitive figures in the process; should be a factor late if she gets a clean trip and an honest pace. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
2:04 KEE 3rd I'MHEREFORTHEPARTY (#12, 12-1) debuted last year at a two-turn, off-turf mile, showing not much, and returned a half-year later for her second start in a Tapeta sprint. I'll guess she'll do better at a dirt sprint as she's dropped to her lowest class level, particularly based on the lively local work pattern since her comeback run. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race
2:36 KEE 4th MASTERFUL MEG (#4, 12-1) was working over the winter (and perhaps more recently) with Why Waste Words, who debuts in the nightcap, and in the video of the dirt work I watched, MM looked far superior. That was back in February and she since has turned in increasingly faster drill, for whatever that's worth. The dam was a grass horse and Meg's sister Miss Yearwood stakes-placed on turf for the Wilkes barn. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race
3:50 TAM 8th PREFERRED OUTCOME (#11, 12-1) was no real threat in his first start of 2023 but that may have been a little short for him, and he may have needed the race; he also was against the race flow in that abbreviated sprint, and he has every right to improve if he gets an honest pace to chase. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
4:20 TAM 9th TRACY ANN'S LEGACY (#9, 2-1) was a very sharp 2nd when last seen, closing well once free of some traffic trouble and racing strongly through the wire; she came from off the pace there but she has more speed than she showed in that race, and that versatility gives her some options in this finale. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
7:18 TUP 7th GOLD COAST GIRL (#7, 6-1) isn't bred to like the grass with her 221 turf Tomlinson so we'll toss her most recent. Class drop makes perfect sense. This filly draws best and likes this distance at 4-1-0-2. Lara gets a leg up and is 24% for this barn. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
7:47 TUP 8th SENT BY ANGELS (#1, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race
