Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
30 KD 1st This race has a serious overload of front-runners (the other race so far this meet that had exactly the same look was won by the early leader, who went a moderate pace...it happens) and PARKLAND (#3, 10-1) is the closer for me. Horse hasn't raced since May and I have no real sense of where he might be physically at the moment, but the steady work pattern starting Aug. 1 suggests this has been an intended spot, his best race is "fast enough," and trainer M Maker often seems to have the right horse for these KD races. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
34 KD 3rd The morning line of 10-1 on LINDY (#2, 10-1) is going to be way off, and unless she has been training in lackluster fashion, she'll vie for favoritism because this is a very, very good filly. She finished fastest in the Prix de la Grotte and in the French 1000 Guineas while closing ground on Blue Rose Cen, one of the top couple 3yo fillies in Europe this year. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
41 KD 5th PALM TREE (#5, 10-1) only earned a 41 Beyer Speed Figure in his career debut - fine, hope that tamps the price down. Got plenty of seasoning and should have moved forward considerably from a fitness standpoint showing speed from rail draw and stuck down inside facing 11 foes in his debut. Most of all, that was dirt, and this horse should be much better on grass. No surprise if he comes from a little off the pace this time. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
28 KD 10th JOKE MASTER (#10, 12-1) was conservatively ridden from well off the pace in that Aug. 1 5 1/2-furlong turf MSW, a race dominated by two front-runners, the second-place finisher returning with a competitive KD showing last week, Joke Master finishing as well as anyone. Not sure how the linemaker got to 12-1 with a horse for Maker / J Ortiz who should be primed for a peak stretching out to mile-plus distance that ought to suit him. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
25 WO 6th HIT AND RUN (#5, 7-2) put away the other speed and then opened up a daylight lead before getting nailed on the wire in a big wake-up race on short rest last time out. The homebred could wire this group on a repeat of that last performance. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
35 RP 2nd SEXY BROWN (#10, 8-1) has moved forward with each of her starts and like that she was favored in her career debut. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
59 RP 5th GLORY O (#7, 6-1) is something of a fresh horse as she makes her first start since June. She's back on dirt and she's been effective on the main track in the past. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
