DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, September 29, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:00 BAQ 1st ARROGANT LADY (#4, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:09 BAQ 7th THERAPIST (#5, 5-1) hasn't won a race since November of 2020 (that victory coming over Aqueduct turf at this distance), though he has continued to race in competitive form vs. some tough competition and was certainly going to be closer two back had he been able to work out a clean trip; disadvantaged by his late-running style but is competitive with horses like this and is unlikely to be underlaid. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:41 BAQ 8th AFFABLE MONARCH (#8, 10-1) hasn't won a race since taking his career debut sprinting last September, though he has clearly improved since then and hasn't always gotten lucky in the trip department; late runner might have some pace in front of him here and he still has forward to go for underrated connections; interesting at a price. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:13 BAQ 9th DELIBERATE RISK (#9, 5-1) debuted in a strong race at Del Mar last month vs. the likes of Classical Cat (made next start in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity) and Hejazi (a $3.5 million Baffert colt who earned a triple-digit Beyer in his next start); chased wide in that spot before tiring and can benefit from that experience. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:00 WO 5th FIRST FROST (#2, 4-1) came up empty in the drive after dueling up front the only time she saw action in a key maiden special weight turf sprint July 16. The daughter of Frosted has worked regularly of late and could wire this group of OS/$40K maidens on the Tapeta under leading rider Kimura. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:31 WO 6th GIZMO'S B F F (#3, 12-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:01 WO 7th MACHISIMA (#2, 10-1) was softened up in a speed duel before tiring in the final sixteenth last out in a one-mile inner turf tilt around two turns. She's cutting back to seven-eighths on the Tapeta, the conditions at which she was a front-running second two back. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:07 RP 1st DIAL IN FOR LUTE (#5, 5-1) gets the nod in the opener as one who figures to be strong through the stretch on the cutback to one turn. He's also a winner at a distance similar to this one. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
10:55 RP 7th WEIRD YEAR (#2, 4-1) was right there at this level last time and the start was his first since June. He showed speed throughout and is a logical choice back. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
11:23 RP 8th MISS B (#7, 8-1) is back at five-eighths on turf, and her last win came at the trip. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
