DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, September 1, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:25 KD 1st Trainer J Sharp last season at Kentucky Downs went 7-3-1-0 in maiden-special-weight races, one of those wins with this jockey, A Beschizza, aboard. FABULOSITY (#9, 12-1) was rained onto mud at Ellis in intended career debut, since has worked twice -- a quick half-mile and then five furlongs. Showing $5K purchase price and connections once again gunning for that MSW purse - strong positive sign. -Marus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:39 KD 5th RECODED (#3, 12-1) is 12-1 on the morning line, which is not an outlandish guess, despite winning an allowance race two back in her second start after a claim and finishing a strong third last out in the Groupie Doll. She hasn't raced on turf since last September at KD, when she was second, beaten a neck and well clear of third, in a second-level allowance over 7f. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:29 SAR 7th CLASSIC LYNNE (#1A, 8-1) debuted sprinting up here as a 2yo, where she wound up bouncing off of a rival several times while in contention in deep stretch before settling for 4th; stretched out on turf two starts later and appeared to improve significantly in that spot while winning clear; third off the layoff dropping with room to improve still. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:10 DMR 3rd SPLIT THEN DOUBLE (#7, 5-1) drops to $40k claiming, first-time tag, after a disappointing nowhere finish with trouble in a N1X. Her midpack finishes two and three starts back against better would be fast enough for this level. She could get a good trip positioned right behind the speed. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:23 KD 8th CODE FOR SUCCESS (#1, 20-1) started her career all right last summer at age 2 but since has struggled. Seems like horses by Honor Code are often better on turf than dirt, and her grass debut last out came over a course with give in the ground an in a two-turn contest. Blinkers on for the cut back to a sprint, two recent works, long price. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:39 SAR 9th GUSTIAMO (#2, 10-1) appeared to gain useful experience in that first run while rated back under a hold and trailing early, before putting in a game run through the stretch to pass some horses along the rail; well-bred filly doesn't have to be ridden as conservatively this time and can improve quickly. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:20 DMR 5th WEEGEE (#2, 5-1) gets another chance at the $32k claiming N2L class level after a better-than-looked fourth vs. similar. WEEGEE was blocked the final quarter-mile, and never had a chance to run. He missed by only a length and quarter. He can win with a clean trip. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:22 WO 4th CALL ME KITTY (#4, 20-1) faded to fifth from a three-wide stalking position when experimenting around two turns in her latest. The turnback to seven-eighths should be suitable for the daughter of Silent Name, who's bred to be a useful sprinter. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:31 KD 10th HEIR TO GREATNESS (#4, 12-1) going dirt to turf in his second career start had a difficult, complicated trip last out after breaking from post 1. He finished with some spark and could improve at a price. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:47 SAR 11th POWER AGENDA (#8, 9-2) earned that debut win over this track as a 2yo while taking on pressure up front from the start and gamely fighting everyone off to prevail; has only sprinted once on dirt since trying the Hopeful in his second start, that on the drop last time where he was once again part of a fast, contested pace and tired; can rebound off the claim as the main speed in this field. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:12 CBY 3rd WYNN TRIP (#4, 6-1) was stuck on the rail in his debut and then caught a sloppy Joe track. Of course, he didn't break very well but earning race experience is what counts the most. Of 7 sibs to race, 6 beat winners. Mac Robertson is 20% with 2nd time maiden starters. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:42 CBY 4th APPRECIABLE (#9, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:00 WBS (Harness) 4th JOE KING (#2, 6-1) made a nice late charge at Clinton Raceway last Sunday and I’ll take a stab with him at a price in a race with no standouts. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:21 WO 8th MOHAYMEN DAY (#4, 12-1) has worked okay for her return from an extended layoff and is going on Lasix for just her second career start. She possesses some turf breeding and could be ready right off the hop with Salles riding. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:35 RP 2nd GOLD VERMILION (#2, 5-1) shortens up a tad in distance and his best recent race came at a mile. He draws a useful post and has natural speed. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:42 CBY 6th ZEE PERFECT RUN (#1, 8-1) beat half the field home in his debut and even got a little bit of play. This is dam's first foal so no help there. Homebred goes for a barn that is 2 for 3 with second time maiden starters. There are no world beaters in here and the price will entice. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
10:55 RP 7th CARBON STRYKER (#10, 5-1) can be closer to the pace than he found himself in his most recent start. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
