DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, October 28, 2021

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:25 LRL 1st UNORTHODOX (#8, 12-1) ran well at this level three back in first run following two-month freshening. Broke slow, stalked that quick pace in the four path, made a three-wide bid and finished evenly. Saved ground off the solid pace last time, stayed inside and gave a decent finish in between. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:50 GP 1st BOO BOO KITTY (#7, 6-1) hard used dueling ultimate winner Royal Engagement in promising bow over the synthetic at Presque Isle, the latter having since become stakes placed against solid company at Woodbine. Might not look back in local bow. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:55 WO 1st MOPOLKA (#3, 8-1) plunged to $10K for her local debut on the Tapeta Sept. 24, when she romped going gate-to-wire while beating two next-out winners. The daughter of Uncle Mo is jumping up to $40K off the claim by Chircop, a 23% angle, and could take some catching with Gallardo back riding. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:22 GP 2nd RESIDENT (#5, 9-2) hard used on front end going a mile last time now turns back to more suitable distance, already a two time open $6,250 winner over the past year. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:23 LRL 3rd Somewhat concerned about the distance for ELUSIVE EDGE (#7, 6-1) as the colt has yet to race around two turns and is bred for speed on both sides. Thought he gave a good effort going seven-eighths at Belmont, however, as he battled with fellow 5 to 1 shot Bardolino through swift fractions, tucked that one into bed at the three-sixteenths and battled gamely to just miss to favored King James (returned to finish second in a $50,000 starter with an 82 Beyer). -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:25 WO 2nd PSARRIS (#9, 8-1) broke a bit slowly before closing for third in her 5 1/2-furlong debut. She came up empty in a longer $25K sprint most recently, but could mow down all the speed in this 5 1/2-furlong dash for $15K maidens. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:55 WO 3rd PEGGY BANK (#7, 6-1) is by 18% first-out sire Gormley, and her unraced dam dropped four winners, including stakes-winning sprinter Two Step Time ($200K). Her last two works were on the quick side, and her trainer can have one ready. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:04 KEE 3rd Trainer Al Stall had (or still has - last work was posted 6/27) LADY BRIELLE's (#1, 10-1) 4yo brother Oak Hill, a talented grass horse who finished second sprinting in his career debut and won a turf route second time out. Really like the look of this Tapit filly's work pattern and think she could be live whether this stays on turf or winds up on dirt. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:43 BEL 5th POWER UP PAYNTER (#3, 6-1) got outrun early and rallied some to no avail when brought back from the short layoff here three weeks ago; taking a logical drop for this after settling for second or third in four of his seven dirt starts since breaking his maiden for a $40k tag at the end of 2019. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:51 LRL 6th Looking for a price with STAND MY GROUND (#4, 8-1) , who cuts back to the distance of runner-up effort two starts back. Wish he ran better last time out going two turns, however, as he characteristically fell behind a fast pace set by a runaway leader and never got involved. He'll need a good amount of pace help. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:08 KEE 5th The Asmussen barn got a great performance Saturday in the Raven Run out of Joy's Rocket but the main narrative around the stable is their lack of wins so far this meet. Will say that the record of their 2yo first-time starters at KEE fall over the last several years has been poor, but one of these horses is going to pop at a price longer than it should be, and will guess ROLL BABY (#9, 10-1) could be that horse. By the great sire Into Mischief and the dam's first foal, Scarred, a full brother, won a Churchill MSW last November making his career debut for Asmussen. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:02 GP 7th FULL DISCLOSURE (#3, 4-1) an impressive debut winner despite trouble at the break and likely to handle the surface switch being full to Cajun Casanova who won the grassy Hollywood Beach at 2. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:34 GP 8th GO MIKE (#7, 5-1) earned career best Beyer while showing a fondness for the all weather when narrowly beaten by tough starter type Light Fury four weeks earlier. Could prove sleeper, option for those willing to side against likely odds on favorite MAX K. O. who towers over the field on paper but a question at short price on the new surface. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:52 BEL 9th ZAP MAN (#5, 12-1) debuted on turf and lacked speed after breaking slowly, before passing some horses late at a big price; has a dirt pedigree and switches right over with Lasix on. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:44 KEE 8th OWN AGENDA's (#2, 8-1) first turf start, which was no bueno, came before he began racing in blinkers, and his second came this past June, an excellent second of 11 behind Monarchs Glen, who was in stakes-class turf middle-distance form at the time. Required another, shorter break but the work pattern says they've been able to do plenty with him to get ready for this, and a rain-off onto dirt would not be a bad thing, either. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:16 KEE 9th MAGOO (#1, 15-1) basically lost all chance at the start of his career debut, a 5f turf-sprint MSW at CBY. Worked back three times since, all at KEE, the last two quite fast, and I get the feeling he could have plenty of speed. The horse cost $3,000 at auction and the tag they choose for the first claiming try is $150,000, suggesting Team Robertson believes this horse has some ability. Should be a long win price in this spot. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:35 RP 2nd D C HERO (#6, 5-1) gets a chance with Oklahoma-breds after a series of competitive races against open foes during the meet at Canterbury. This one's late dam was a multiple stakes winner and a popular runner at Remington. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
