DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026

Oct 28, 2026
Belmont Park scenic11.9-18-26.BL
Barbara D. Livingston Belmont hosts an eight-race card Thursday that begins at 1:10 p.m. Eastern.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

1:00 CD 1st MR. TALLYMON (#3, 15-1) is by a 21% debut sire (nice). His dam was un-raced. One of two sibs won and is 7-1-2-1 while banking 57K. Works are well spaced all for a barn that is 21% with their debut maidens. A weight break rounds out the appeal. - Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race

2:27 CD 4th GETTING AFTER IT (#7, 8-1) returns to two turns and perhaps for the best. Her previous two routes came before the long layoff and we have excuses for both. The first was versus stakes foes at Turfway and she was only 3 1/2 lengths back with a furlong to go before she spit the bit. She caught a sloppy Joe surface in her second route at Keeneland. Her last two starts were a tad better so now is a good time to stretch-out. - Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race

3:14 BEL 5th Thought NUMEROLOGY (#6, 12-1) galloped out nicely in that debut sprint at Colonial, and though she flattened out late in her local debut she ran well in defeat, and posted a much-improved figure; back to one turn today and might find this cutback in distance just what she needs, likely at a decent price. -Kenny Peck | Get Past Performances for this race

3:45 BEL 6th SHE SAID SO (#7, 6-1) is the first starter out of a dam who won a pair of races, both dirt sprints, and she's been training steadily toward her debut for trainer Jorge Duarte Jr., who has won at 16% with his firsters over the past five years, with a positive ROI; young sire Name Changer, like the dam also trained by Duarte Jr., already has three winners from 20 first-time-starters to race. - Kenny Peck | Get Past Performances for this race

3:51 LRL 9th BELLABLAZE (#3, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Patrick Moquin). | Get Past Performances for this race

4:21 LRL 10th SAY YOU LOVE ME (#6, 3-1) dropped in class while switching to dirt earlier this month and rallied for second with a 46 Beyer; Trombetta now has her in for a $7,500 tag and she seems like the clear hot hand in this vulnerable field. - Patrick Moquin | Get Past Performances for this race

4:40 WO 4th CRUMLIN FASHION (#10, 4-1) was in solid sprint form before getting fried in a speed duel most recently going 1 1/16 miles. Her trainer has adequate numbers with turnbacks and this one merits top billing under Zenteno, who's 2 for 10 at the meet for the barn. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

4:55 CD 9th SOCIAL BELLE (#3, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get Past Performances for this race

5:10 WO 5th ROYAL FONZ (#1, 6-1) has been gelded since another flat fourth Sept. 26 and could lead all the way in this weak $10K maiden claimer under good speed rider Dane Nelson. Trainer John Mattine has been on a roll of late, scoring twice last Friday. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

5:24 CD 10th WAVEFRONT (#12, 8-1) is by a 11% debut sire. His dam went 21-2-3-5 and earned 83K. Lone sibling is 12-4-1-2 and earned 103K. We love that Jose takes the call (30% for this barn). Louisiana Downs works will help the price. Connections could have opted for a debut there versus much easier but opt for this. - Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race

9:22 RP 5th VAEDRA (#1, 9-2) found turf, longer and much more expensive too much to handle here Oct. 9 but she's back to dirt, back to one turn, back to a shorter trip and well down in class. It can all add up to a bounce-back. - Michael Hammersly | Get Past Performances for this race

10:46 RP 8th SHAI A (#7, 4-1) not only passed the eye test with a big win here Sept. 24. he did so under wraps and got a heady Beyer to boot. His speed can again him in it from the start. - Michael Hammersly | Get Past Performances for this race
