DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026

Oct 21, 2026
Jackson Heights.7-5-25.BL
Barbara D. Livingston Jackson Heights in Kenny Peck's selection in Thursday's seventh race at Belmont.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

2:16 BEL 3rd In his Gulfstream debut I'M A GUNNER (#8, 5-1) stalked the 2/5 favorite and pacesetter before making a bid for the lead, and though he was rebuffed he held well enough to earn a decent Beyer; back after a freshening and he could prove a threat to likely favorite He's My Kind if he can shake loose early on at this extended distance. - Kenny Peck | Get Past Performances for this race

3:08 KEE 5th The course had a lot of give to it last racing week, and with limited daylight, it doesn't dry a lot this time of year. UNWAVERING MONARCH (#7, 6-1) has only raced on ground with give during her four-start career, three races in France, then a Laurel race Sept. 20, her American debut, that caught the eye. Pace was decent there in the early stages but slowed to a crawl as the field stacked up going down the backside. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race

3:47 WO 2nd PEACE POSEY (#3, 8-1) is dropping off a fringe finish vs. male non-three OS/$40K company to this much easier $25K conditioned claimer for distaffers. She's switching from Tapeta to the main turf, over which she ran third two back behind a winner who returned to finish second in a restricted stakes. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

4:12 KEE 7th AMERICAN PEARL (#1, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Marcus Hersh). | Get Past Performances for this race

4:20 WO 3rd SURFSIDE BEACH (#2, 4-1) folded on the turn after failing to find the golden rail last time vs. non-two OS/$40K opponents. She was previously in solid form and should get back on the beam in this $15K non-two dash on the Tapeta. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

4:31 BEL 7th JACKSON HEIGHTS (#3, 5-1) will be looking to win this from off the pace but there are confirmed speeds to his outside and he should get faster splits today than he got in his last couple of tries; tried this distance for the first time in his latest and he didn't run badly at all, with a step forward certainly within reach if the pace is quick and contested. - Kenny Peck | Get Past Performances for this race

4:52 WO 4th SPUN FOR FLATTER (#4, 6-1) closed three-wide to beat $25K maidens on the drop over the Tapeta Sept. 10. She couldn't keep up after an early stalking trip the only time she tried the grass going long on the main course in August and deserves a turf mulligan with Aebly back riding for JC. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

5:16 KEE 9th Was quite high on TREAT ME NICE (#10, 5-1) going into her career debut - and was quite mistaken! Or was I? Best parts of all her breezes, going back to it, are the final stages, and maybe she was just hapless sprinting. The poor outside draw should be somewhat mitigated by a fair price - maybe. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race

6:54 WO 8th After two lackluster performances on the dirt in Alberta, SPIRIT OF INDY (#9, 12-1) closed inside for fourth in her local debut vs. $15K maidens going five-eighths. With that race over the Tapeta under her girth, she's eligible to improve significantly and could catch all the speed in this longer $15K sprint. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

7:30 RP 1st GOOD LOVIN (#6, 4-1) was claimed by Young, was moved well up in class here Oct. 1 but found that move a bit too ambitious as he set a pressured pace before tiring. He's back to the level of that nice win here Sept. 17 and so long as that last run Oct. 1 didn't take some of the starch out of him he can bounce back on the drop. His speed can have him in it from the bell. - Michael Hammersly | Get Past Performances for this race

9:50 RP 6th PRINCESS KAIULANI (#6, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Michael Hammersly). | Get Past Performances for this race

10:18 RP 7th WEST CODE LADY (#5, 6-1) looked like a new horse blasting maidens here Sept. 25. Not only did Asmussen see fit to claim her he nearly triples her in value, a most encouraging move. - Michael Hammersly | Get Past Performances for this race
