DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, May 6, 2021

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:40 PIM 1st COOKE BROTHERS (#3, 12-1) won his 2020 debut following a 204-day layoff so not too concerned about the recent 130 days on the sidelines. The main worry is his running style as he doesn’t have much speed and might not get the right race flow in a heat that doesn’t feature much pace. Ran pretty well for the nickel in his final start at four as he settled off the pace before angling out into the clear in upper stretch. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:50 GP 1st MISS MIAMI (#2, 9-2) is plunging to the basement after struggling in her last few against N1X state-breds and $16K starter stock. The turf specialist doesn’t have much to beat in this six-furlong dirt sprint under Reyes, who has solid numbers for this barn. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:20 GP 2nd SPIRIT WIND (#6, 4-1) is debuting with a speed pedigree for a trainer who can have one ready. Her stakes-placed dam produced 2yo stakes winner Sing Praises ($484K) and stakes-placed 2yo debut winner Silent Prayer ($302K). -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:19 PIM 4th RAILMASTER (#10, 3-1) is a proven commodity over this course and might have been a bit unlucky when last seen on turf at Delaware last fall. Hustled hard to track the pace, he ran right into traffic when attempting to split horses in upper stretch. He altered course outside to get into the clear and came with a decent run. The concern is that he might need a race in his first start of the year. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:52 PIM 5th STIR CRAZY (#1, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Dan Illman) | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:05 BEL 1st CAPTIVATING GAL (#4, 10-1) made one start as a 2yo and did some good things to come away a clear-cut winner in a race that returned a low figure; well-bred filly managed to easily keep herself in range of a competitive pace in that spot, before coming for it around the turn & proving to be clearly best in the stretch; starts back for a trainer who ships here with intent. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:09 BEL 3rd BINGO JOHN (#1, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:31 PIM 8th LIFESPAN (#2, 9-2) has an annoying habit of lugging in and failing to finish off his races, but he appears to have found a good spot in this short field in second start following the Corrales claim. Wired over a speed-friendly track last time out, he made a three-wide turn bid to get to even terms before pulling his usual shenanigans and flattening out. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:40 BEL 4th AFTER THE WIRE (#1, 10-1) made a useful run after a slow start when debuting for a tag over a wet track, then stepped up and tried a wide run around the turn while in way too tough last time; drops back down with a chance to improve as Carmouche takes over. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:43 BEL 6th Hoping the bottom of the pedigree carries SUMMER SILENCE (#2, 8-1), who actually ran pretty well in his career debut on turf despite acting very green; back to the grass and stretching out after falling to improve much on the main track on his last two starts and he is bred for distance. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
9:27 LS 5th SNOW MAN (#6, 8-1) comes off a solid effort in his first start as a 4-year-old and considering his lone sib is a two-time turf winner at Gulfstream he could thrive running over the green stuff the first time. Adding to his appeal is the past five years Hebert is two for 11 and has a $4.52 ROI with horses running on grass the first time. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
