DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, May 5, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:05 GP 1st DAVID'S ROSE (#2, 4-1), the only two-time winner in the field, did not fire in her only try on turf but it was just her second start and she was coming off a layoff. She is out of a turf winner and three of her siblings won on the grass so expecting her to handle the surface switch. Runner-up in her latest won a $35K starter/optional race with a 73 Beyer in her next start. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:18 LRL 2nd The last time FACTOR IN (#7, 4-1) raced on turf, she beat two other next-out winners (Kitten Tales returned to graduate at Tampa Bay with a 70 Beyer, then ran second in a first-level allowance there with a 76). Sat a good pocket trip, surged through along the inside turning for home, was forced inwards by the eventual first-place finisher (even-money Frosteria) and was put up via disqualification. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:25 LRL 4th TITAN'S WILL (#7, 4-1) was no match for It's Game Time three weeks ago, but his last four wins came around two turns and he'll get an opportunity to stretch out once again. Prompted the favorite (finished third) going the one-turn mile last time, made the lead turning into the stretch and gamely held the place. His tactical speed can help him gain position despite breaking from a tough outside post. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:59 LRL 5th Wish ROYAL FLUSH GIRL (#1, 20-1) had more grass pedigree, but Madefromlucky is the sire of turf stakes-winner Epic Luck from limited opportunities. Finished ahead of She's a Tripp last time and that one returned to run third on dirt for $16,000 with a 34 Beyer. This trainer-jockey combination scored with dirt-to-turf runner Gold Guy here on April 29. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:04 BEL 5th FRONT MAN (#8, 5-1) ran well in all four starts over Belmont turf last year despite not winning any of those races; got the right trip and setup when rallying into a strong pace to score ver yielding ground at Saratoga in his lone 2021 victory, but he was in good form prior to that and came right back with another good effort trying to close into a race pace in his next start; can factor at a fair price if ready off the bench. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:37 BEL 6th CAPONE (#3, 8-1) might have landed in a very tough MSW as he makes his second career start but he looked like a horse in need of experience in that debut in February, despite taking money in that spot; went for $00k after a strong breeze last May and may not have cared for the wet, sealed surface he encountered first time out; regrouped after that race and returned three months later as a new gelding with Lasix on. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:09 LRL 7th We'll learn a great deal more about SUPER LOVE (#4, 5-1) as he faces a strong pace and class test, but the hulking son of Super Saver made a nice impression in career debut. Blasted right to the lead, parried the odds-on favorite's thrust on the turn and kept right on going. Expect early speed once again and the extra distance shouldn't pose a problem. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:24 GP 7th BLESSED JOURNEY (#4, 7-2) is a three-time winner going 7 furlongs so he won't mind the cutback in distance after winning a one-mile race for $6,250 claimers April 17. He should get a similar trip here and he won for $20K in Sept. so the small jump in class is not a big concern. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:00 GP 8th L. E. GRAY (#8, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Randy Goulding). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:20 WBS (Harness) 2nd BIG BETTOR HANOVER (#1, 5-2) got hammered down to 2 to 5 in her sophomore debut and she didn’t disappoint, firing home in :26 2/5 to win. She should take another here; best bet. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:35 YR (Harness) 3rd ASHTINI (#3, 7-1) makes her third start back after a layoff tonight and moves inside on the gate. I'll give her a try and expect her to offer some value against this beatable group. – Greg Reinhart | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
