DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, March 6, 2025

DRF Staff|Mar 06, 2025
Gulfstream Park scenic Jan 30 2025
Barbara D. Livingston First post for Gulfstream racing is scheduled for 1250 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:50 GP 1st SIXTEEN CIGARETTES (#3, 4-1) is in good form and gets in light again. This guy cuts back full furlong to what might be his favorite distance at 5-1-1-2. This roan is a hard trier that has hit the exacta on this synth in 7 of 12 starts. Race flow is more than fair if all stay in. -Scott Ehlers

1:54 GP 3rd SWINGING SOLO (#5, 4-1) goes for a new barn that is 16% off the claim. They are 26% on the synth. This gelding tried the grass for the first time last out and was denied a clean trip. That route try at Tampa only two back is encouraging. We like Davis up and he is 17% for this barn. -Scott Ehlers

4:23 TUP 4th SAND PAYNTER (#4, 6-1) is by a 6% debut turf sire. His dam never tried the green and this is her first grass foal. This colt broke last from the rail in his debut but still managed the show dough. We like that connections want a route of ground and the turf in only this guy's second start. Turf Tomlinson of 300 is solid. -Scott Ehlers

5:01 GP 9th DUDE RANCH (#1, 4-1) ran well in her first two stats and both were sprinting. She spit the bit last out when trying two turns for the first time. She returns to sprinting and that is a 15% move for this barn. Team Sweezey is 26% on the synth. Ruiz stays put and is 28% for this barn. -Scott Ehlers

5:59 TUP 7th THE GOLDEN EGG (#4, 8-1) has gotten a Beyer in the 50's in five of his last six starts. He is a Essex re-claim so this barn knows this gelding well. This guy has some speed and draws inside main pace foes. -Scott Ehlers
