DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, June 10, 2021

DRF Staff|Jun 09, 2021
First Captain wins an April 24 maiden race at Belmont Park
Chelsea Durand/NYRA First Captain wins his debut on April 24 at Belmont. He won an allowance race a month later to remain unbeaten.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

4:09 BEL 3rd LEMIEUX (#1, 7-2) took money for her debut last month, where she bumped into a sharp winner and was always outrun while chasing her pace (Happy Soul returned to win the Astoria easily last week with another 81 Beyer); can put that experience to good use here for a trainer who tends to improve them through racing. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:43 BEL 6th RECKLESS SPIRIT (#11, 8-1) can be a difficult horse to ride but he has run races that will make him competitive in this spot as he drops back down in class and returns to the Bond barn; needs a trip from the outside as he picks up a hot rider and returns to the right level. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:15 BEL 7th PRAIRIE WINGS (#5, 5-1) made her first start off the layoff at Churchill going a mile in April and was hard to settle in that spot while keeping after a fast pace, and ultimately weakened late in a race that went to closers; still hasn’t won on turf but she has run well in all three starts on this surface and has tactical speed. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:10 CBY 3rd ITS A BOY (#2, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:15 BEL 9th CHULAINN (#1, 10-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:40 CBY 4th MAKE ME BLUSH (#5, 8-1) faced first time winners in his second start and not only did he win but he improved his Beyer by 12 points. Now he goes second time this dirt all with a ton of upside. We don’t think this 5K purchase is done improving. Race flow is quick so that is another plus for this off the pace runner. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:10 CBY 5th JOHNNY UP (#9, 6-1) is by a 15% debut sire. His dam went 5-1-1-0 and earned 15K. All 6 sibs won with 5 having beat winners including 2 stakes runners. Works are perfect. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
