With most other North American sports being shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, we hope the sport of horse racing can entertain you during these trying times. Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 12:58 GP 3rd SLEEK LYNX (#2, 6-1) has been working nicely for Casse and is out of a mare who was a Group 2 winner in Europe as well as the Grade 1 Canadian International over the Woodbine turf course. -Randy Goulding 1:21 SAR 2nd NORTHERN HAZE (#8, 10-1) blew the start and was no factor at BEL June 4. Not only was the start lousy, it was his first outing in over five months. He has that run under his belt, drops and Miceli removes the blinkers, a move with which he’s done well. – Michael Hammersly 1:40 LRL 3rd EPITOMIZE (#2, 5-1) stumbled at the start, bumped the horse to his left, and was out the back door into last in a slow-paced race dominated by front-runners. Had easily the fastest come-home time in the race despite being somewhat short of room the final furlong, quickly galloping out in front. Should be closer to the lead today. Like him a lot. – Marcus Hersh 1:40 LRL 3rd J BERESFORD TIPTON (#6, 3-1) has been the beaten favorite in his last three races, but think he ran better last time than the running line indicates. In a bit tight in mid-pack along the rail passing the stands the first time, he tried to get into it by splitting horses four wide with three furlongs to go and ended up five wide on the final turn. He failed to sprint home with the leaders, but showed some interest on the gallop-out and think he'll appreciate this extra distance. -Dan Illman 2:10 LRL 4th This seems like a class drop for HUSHED HIJINKS (#3, 7-2) as he exits a decent maiden selling group at Gulfstream (the winner returned to finish second in a $50,000 starter allowance at Saratoga with a 75 Beyer while the seventh-finisher came back to graduate for $12,500 with a 67). He was keyed up going into the first turn, but ended up in a decent spot pushing a slow pace before tiring late. He might have needed that race, his first in 171 days, and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to this cutback in distance. Expect him to be off the pace here. -Dan Illman 3:06 GP 7th MACHO D'ORO (#4, 4-1) has improved dramatically for Cadahia and he was under wraps most of the way in his easy front-running victory over older horses in a $16K N2L in his latest. He is back with 3-year-olds only here, and he's versatile so Lebron has more than one option. -Randy Goulding 3:10 LRL 6th ZIP LINE TO HEAVEN (#10, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Dan Illman). 4:12 SAR 7th Surface isn't a distinguishing factor for JC'S SHOOTING STAR (#2, 8-1). It's all about distance for her, as she is effective on both turf and dirt, as long as she is sprinting; getting some class relief for this and she lands in a race that is projected to be run at a fast pace to help set up her run; had little chance in her most recent dirt start, which was run at a rated pace. -Mike Beer 4:14 GP 9th RELUCTANT BRIDE (#5, 9-2) showed she can sprint and fire fresh when she won her debut on turf and then was thrown to the wolves in her next two. The winner of the Grade 3 Sweetest Chant repeated in another Grade 3. This gal showed she can handle dirt when she ran okay in the Grade 2 Davona Dale. Bioncone can have them ready to roll coming off this kind of layoff, too. -Randy Goulding 4:35 AP 4th TAKAFUMI (#4, 8-1) is going to get a great pace setup, just like he did in his lone career start, an easy MSW score over the AP Polytrack in August. Runner-up that race is a useful horse. – Marcus Hersh 4:40 LRL 9th JAGUAR POZ is still a "maiden" on turf, but he earned a stakes-placing sprinting on the sod back in 2017 with a good late-running second behind odds-on Pay Any Price in the Turf Dash at Tampa Bay Downs. He's been racing himself back into shape against solid company on dirt and believe he's always been slightly better on synthetic and, perhaps, grass. Chased a fast pace last time out at Delaware in a race won by closing 12-time winner Arch Cat, think he's a good fit at this class level and can factor at a nice price with a late bid. -Dan Illman 4:46 SAR 8th MODESTO (#1, 6-1) is by 14% overall debut sire Uncle Mo and out of a dam who won her career debut on grass; good works on the way in for Ward, who has strong numbers with older horses debuting in sprints. -Mike Beer 4:58 WO 4th CASSIE'S RAINBOW (#9, 12-1) came wide from third to topple $16K maidens in her third start off the bench two weeks ago. She's a good fit in this $25K NW2 sprint from a Beyer perspective, in which she could have clear sailing on the outside again. -Ron Gierkink 5:48 SAR 10th MANDATORY PAYOUT (#4, 15-1) has lost 14 straight since posting a dominant maiden win last summer, but his form has held up fine, particularly in his races over fast dirt, which is his preference; good effort for 3rd last time after losing position early in the race. -Mike Beer 7:15 WO 8th CLASSY GIZMO (#5, 10-1) was herded out at the break before closing from left field for third when changing surfaces to the turf and going from six to seven furlongs in her latest. The half-sister to Bison City Stakes winner Speedy Soul is by stamina sire Giant Gizmo, and should find her niche around two turns. -Ron Gierkink 8:40 CBY 7th JUST BLAZE (#5, 8-1) gets a little class hike off the Karl Broberg claim (27% first-claimed strike rate) and has plenty of latitude to improve second time back from a break. Broberg won two at the meet with Hotfoot, who I’m guessing regresses here first time after being claimed from Broberg. – Marcus Hersh
