DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, July 15, 2021

DRF Staff|Jul 14, 2021
Saratoga Race Course grandstand
Barbara D. Livingston Tickets for seating at the Saratoga meeting will go on sale June 9.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

2:07 WO 3rd VEIL (#1, 8-1) faded to fifth from a three-wide stalking position in her comeback in a fast second-level optional claimer. The drop to $40K might put her over the top in her first start with Bahen up. – Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:15 SAR 3rd GUSSY MAC (#1, 30-1) overcame traffic to win the Dragon Stakes in a solid performance as a 2yo last summer sprinting; stateside debut came over a tough distance off the layoff, and he was rank in the early stages, before flattening out late; cuts back to a mile and draws a perfect inside post. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:10 WO 5th HAZELBROOK (#3, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:55 SAR 6th FIVE ALARM ROBIN (#4, 12-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:13 SAR 10th SANDRO THE GREAT (#11, 15-1) made his turf debut going long last summer and stumbled awkwardly at the start, before racing on gamely in the stretch to show some potential; was last seen up here last summer, where he endured a terrible trip from his outside draw; returns as a new gelding with a trainer change that should make no difference, and Rosario sticks with him. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:40 CBY 2nd BEACH GETAWAY (#4, 6-1) ran evenly off the layoff, but that was on the dirt, and this mare is better on the green. Any of her three turf starts from last summer fit here, as does that grass start at Turf Paradise three back (all Beyers in the 70’s). This barn shows a flat bet profit second off this type of layoff. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:10 CBY 5th BOURBON WISDOM (#5, 4-1) is in good form for Diodoro and this horse like the sod. Race flow is fast so this gelding should get another good trip. The leading rider stays put and is 25% for this barn. This gelding is bred to love the grass, so we think he will actually improve in this spot. - Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

9:10 CBY 7th INCRIMINATION (#11, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
