DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, July 13, 2023
?q=100)
Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
2:20 SAR 3rd DIVA READY (#3, 10-1) will have to prove that she can be effective going a short sprint distance, but she looks like a good fit in this spot if ready off the layoff; had little chance the last time she was on the grass in a race that was dominated up close, and she is even more dirtied up with that dirt start showing before the layoff. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:34 SAR 7th NEED SOME MONEY (#11, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:10 SAR 8th CONSULTANT (#10, 12-1) ran better than it looks while making two moves en route to winning over this distance on short rest last October, then came right back to win again despite not really appearing to relish that added furlong; looked like she needed that first start back last month when looming boldly past midstretch before flattening out; he is handy early but needs a trip from this post. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:18 SAR 10th CHARISSE (#2, 8-1) drew perfectly inside and gets the needed class relief for this after doing her best and failing to make an impression vs. MSW rivals last time; seems to be improving a bit with each start and is bred to get better with time and distance. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:07 CBY 3rd ALQWANI (#2, 9-2) doesn't seem to like the grass so we shall treat her most recent as a prep for this. We do like that this mare puts races together. Lone dirt route came four back and it was one of her best races. Trainer stats are good across the board. This mare has some speed and could find the front end in this spot. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:21 WO 6th OLD SECRETS (#5, 6-1) rallied from sixth to finish a close third two back in a five-furlong inner turf dash, and she ran against an outside bias most recently when fifth on the Tapeta. She has lots of speed to chase in this five-furlong Tapeta tilt and could along in time in her first start under the capable Munger. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:37 CBY 4th SHES GOT THE POWER (#5, 10-1) switches barns to Silva Jr who is 19% with new runners. Form cycle hints at better and this mare just worked a bullet. Race flow is more than fair if all stay in. We would love to get 10-1 morning line. DREAMING BIZ is a hard trier that runs for the leading barn. She can pass runners and likes this sod at 16-3-4-4. Class drop might prove the tipping point. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:19 WO 8th IT'S A BIG SONG (#10, 10-1) showed speed before tiring at 7-1 in her $25K opener going the seven-furlong distance of this rock bottom $7.5K event. McKnight has good stats with maiden second-timers, and apprentice Slevinsky gets her first mount for Norm here from the outside post. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
