DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, January 6, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action.
12:59 GP 2nd ZIGGY (#7, 6-1) draws outside once again and his last two were a little better. He tries a flat mile back to back for the first time and could easily get lost on the tote. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
1:48 AQU 3rd ARANJUEZ (#6, 7-2) has some speed but only to chase the eventual winner before settling for second-best in his career debut on turf; had to forego Lasix when switched to the main track last time and chased heavily-favored Printraxck to no avail; Lasix back on, along with blinkers, for a dangerous trainer. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
2:26 LRL 5th Connections have been reluctant to stretch BOONDOGGLE (#8, 8-1) in distance, but the sprint-bred gelding might have the right body type for the additional yardage. Steadied and shuffled back along the rail to track the quick pace, he was in behind horses on the turn before easing out for a clear run. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race
2:31 GP 5th GLIDER (#4, 15-1) is by a 11% debut sire. His dam never tried the green. Of 4 sibs to try the grass, 3 won. We see 2 sibs that are multiple turf winners. The best banked over 405K on the weeds. This colt ran evenly in his debut on the synth and that should bode well for his turf debut. A good price on top of everything. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
2:58 LRL 6th GOODLUCKCHUCK (#1, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Dan Illman). | Get PPs for this race
3:05 GP 6th DESIGNED BY KITTEN (#5, 8-1) either bounced or didn't care for two turns in her most recent. Or sometimes the girls just throw in a poor one. She returns to a short sprint and gets good race flow so we could see a carbon copy of that winning effort from only two back. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
3:50 AQU 7th JUST READ IT (#5, 6-1) ran better than it looks off the layoff two back after failing to break sharply from the gate and then getting held up behind horses early; caught slop in the Garland of Roses last time and failed to pick up; stakes winner over this track is still lightly-raced and can rebound as she returns to her available condition. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
5:14 GP 10th MY BROTHER MIKE (#4, 15-1) is by a 36% debut sire. His dam was un-raced. Four of five sibs won with two having earned 200K and 137K. We would love to get 15-1 morning line. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
7:20 WBS (Harness) 2nd MACHIN A TRICK (#6, 2-1) comes right back at the same level where he dominated when claimed last week and he gets the call to repeat. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race
