DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, January 19, 2023

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:50 AQU 1st DREAM ON CARA (#2, 5-1) has been beaten by a combined 40 lengths in her three dirt starts but she faced stakes rivals in those races, the last in sprints; ran better than it looks a couple of times on turf over the summer but she has plenty of pedigree to handle this surface and stretching out while facing maidens for the first time on the main track is a positive. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:09 GP 3rdClass drop and the turf-to-synth angle ought to be enough to make DREAMING OF AUDREY (#5, 6-1) a major player for D'Angelo in this pretty competitive open-$10k Tapeta dash, especially in light of how she ran fairly well in 2 tries versus state-bred alw. company in the fall; can uncoil late after taking careful early rating from T-Gaff. -Marty McGee | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:47 AQU 5th DADDY KNOWS (#1, 8-1) took advantage of a rated pace when finishing first in a two-turn route at Finger Lakes last summer then tailed off after that; have never liked him going long; earned a 91 Beyer the last time he sprinted over this track while first off the claim for Englehart. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:28 TUP 3rd TIME FOR GOLD (#6, 5-1) won when last seen on this sod and got a 75 Beyer in the process. Her most recent was a little better and now she goes second time with team Diodoro and they are 15% on the green. Connections find a good spot but why adds blinkers (7%) or use Lara (0 for 2)? Still, the surface switch is too big a positive to look elsewhere. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:36 GP 8th CHESS MASTER (#4, 15-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Marty McGee). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:05 GP 9th Return to the main track not a bad idea at all for ALICE HARPER (#7, 8-1), who warmed up with a couple of okay tries over the Tapeta; now gets Saez while in for her lowest level ever; can stand to wait for some of the quicker ones to get leg-weary before moving along. -Marty McGee | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:16 AQU 8th OLYMPIC DREAMS (#8, 12-1) debuted on turf last summer and took money in that race, but came up completely empty after getting caught wide and finished far back in last; has more of a dirt pedigree and there is no drop in class for his return as a new gelding. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:28 TUP 5th MAJESTIC STREET (#2, 6-1) figures as good a trip as anyone. Form cycle hints at better. This horse exits a key race where 2 of 6 returned to win with figs of 70 and 74. Class drop is key. That effort two back was better than it looks. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
