DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, February 3, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:25 LRL 1st Trainer Jamie Ness is 7 for the last 12 (58%, $3.26 ROI) with older (4 YOs & Up) dirt sprinters going third off a 61- to 120-day layoff, and JOHNNY SWISH (#7, 7-2) drops to the $16,000 level for the first time after chasing odds-on Treasure Tradition. Tracked the slow pace from in between and just missed third. Has the tactical speed to work out a close-up trip while in the clear. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:25 LRL 3rd DAILY PLANET (#6, 6-1) finished ahead of two next-out winners in career debut when chasing the more experienced Sea Pines (returned to finish second in a $25,000 claimer with a 57 Beyer). Tracked the pace three wide and in between foes, made a four-wide bid on the turn and never stopped trying in the stretch. Gets Lasix for 3-year-old debut. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:28 GP 3rd Draw a red squiggly line thru the 8/28 debacle from KING CAB (#3, 5-1) in the Affirmed and suddenly he's a major threat when trying these state-bred 3yos off the lengthy layoff; the debut sure was nice, and it's plausible he wasn't ready for such a rugged assignement on the wheel-back; nice set of works, including a couple of bullets, when returning to action here for Plesa, who's quietly enjoying a fine championship meet. -Marty McGee | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:18 AQU 4th CAPONE (#3, 4-1) impressed in his 10.2 breeze before going for $400k last May and he has some pedigree on his side, being from the female family of Kentucky Oaks winner Summerly, as well as Grade 3-winning turf sprinter Royal Approval; Jerkens isn't known for cranking them up right away, but this colt turns up with a bullet out of the gate. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:05 GP 6th A fresh start and a new surface might well be the ticket for GIVERNY (#2, 4-1), a blueblooded 4yo whose lone start last March suggest she's got some ability; given all the time she needed by her HOF trainer, the gray Alpha Delta homebred returns here with a bunch of Payson bullets on her page; onward and upward. -Marty McGee | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:26 TUP 3rd OYE COMO VA (#5, 6-1) just likes it here but the betting public hasn't figured that out yet at least looking at recent odds of 6-1 and 9-1 (win and place). Now this mare goes third off the layoff and adds a half furlong. Versatile style is big and we like that this girl worked on the 11th. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:29 LRL 7th JOYFUL NOISE (#7, 5-1) stalked in between horses at the back, split rivals and just missed with a good gallop-out in recent wet-track appearance. Believe the consistent mare is tactical enough to stay closer to the pace if necessary. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:37 GP 7th BUENO BUENO (#4, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Marty McGee). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:25 AQU 8th LITTLE MENACE (#4, 4-1) started out sprinting with some success, then became a stakes winner routing at three; tried making the switch to turf early last year to no avail, but he returned to the main track to earn a new top figure when scoring decisively on a class drop last November; good effort last time when rushing up to contest the pace after a slow start; dangerous off the claim for Atras. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:30 TUP 7th SOMETHING SUPER (#6, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:01 TUP 8th FINISHED MY P H D (#2, 5-1) goes second time new barn, draws inside, has speed, likes this distance, and gets a good speed jock. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:20 WBS (Harness) 2nd MAISYS MUSCLES (#1, 5-2) is likely to get pounded tonight off her troubled trip last week where she was crying out for room but couldn't find any until deep stretch, then finished fastest. She should be hard to beat here. - Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
9:55 YR (Harness) 10th CHUPPAH ON (#6, 4-1) came in second in her debut for trainer Tahnee Camilleri on January 13. Stratton remains the driver tonight, and she gets another shot versus bottom-level foes. - Greg Reinhart | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
