DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, February 16, 2023

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:40 GP 2ndHaving sniffed right around it his last few starts, looking for TONE FEELIN (#7, 4-1) to follow thru with a top try when given the subtle class drop in his second start for one of the three members of The Family Maragh represented here; 6yo gelding does his best work on the GP main and now gets the open-air outside box from where the 7-pound bug can play things by ear; figures there or thereabouts. -Marty McGee | Get PPs for this race
1:3 GP 4th SIX FEET APART (#7, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Marty McGee). | Get PPs for this race
3:08 GP 7thSure looks like the strength of this N2L-$50k synth route will breaking from the outer gates. ZISISIT (#7, 12-1) probably will be the greatest value of the three 4yo fillies leaving from those posts; forgive the fading finish when probably overmatched at 23-1 in the too-tough 1/25 starter on the turf, and refer instead to the just-miss defeat in a Tapeta race similar to this earlier in the month; perhaps worth mentioning that K.Attard is a 2022 Sovereign finalist and his barn has never been stronger. -Marty McGee | Get PPs for this race
3:37 GP 8thLINNY KATE (#11, 9-2) fits one of these multi-pronged race conditions nicely (haven't won in 6 months) after knocking on the door in recent times with back-to-back 2nds at a similar level; Rosario stays put; applies major pressure late. -Marty McGee | Get PPs for this race
5:31 TUP 6th YELLEN (#2, 7-2) was stuck on the rail in her last two starts so this 2 post is much better. We bet that the added half furlong is a plus. Form cycle hints at better. Did this mare learn to stalk in her last two starts? Second time with Lopez up can only help. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
6:33 TUP 8th JOKER MATT (#1, 6-1) is a bit unlucky to catch a field that is good for the level. Then again maybe that helps the price. This Cal bred has already won twice on this sod. He is only a 4YO and is bred to love the green with his 419 turf Tomlinson. We doubt very much that this guy is done improving. This barn is 27% with horses that won their last race. Class drop rounds out the appeal. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
